An In-Depth Look at the Synergism in the Fashion and Technology Industries

Technology and fashion industries have evolved together for the last few decades. A close look at the evolution, it is evident that the two industries require each other to grow. Given the constant changes n peoples’ tastes and preferences, fashion designers have to marry technology with fashion to design more acceptable designs. The future of these two industries may be difficult to predict because of the constant changes. However, a glimpse of the past and present trends can shed light on the future of the two industries.

A Glimpse of The Past

A quick look at the trends of the previous five decades clearly shows how fashion and technology trends are dynamic. In the 70s the boom box and two cassette decks were entertaining. However, ten years later boom boxes were no longer fashionable. On the other hand, the two cassette decks continued to become famous even in the 1980s. This is because they were incorporated in movie storylines of the decade. This brings out a clear picture of the synergy existing between the two industries. Rolling to the 1990s the boom box and the two cassette decks were no longer fashionable, and iPod became popular; proving that technology growth depends on what is considered fashionable.

The Future

From the past and current trends, the future of these two industries can be predicted. In the future fashion designers will use technology to protect the humans. Airbags to worn around the neck region of a cyclist are in the pipeline and are set to replace helmets. Additionally, clothing and shoes that convert kinetic energy to power mp3 and mobile gadgets when the wearer is in motion will be the next fascinating innovation. From these trends, it is clear that advances in technology may require fashion and vice versa and therefore, their future will depend on how much they complement each other.
