After several years of investing in different famous brands like Tory Burch and C. Wonder, businessman Chris Burch has now decided to take his entrepreneurial skills to the hospitality industry. Mr. Burch and a seasoned hospitality guru, James McBridge, purchased a beach property on Indonesian Sumba Island in 2012. The two businessmen spent $30 million to redevelop the property, which was then reopened in 2015 as a five-star hotel known as Nihiwatu. The entrepreneur revealed that he bought the property for his kids and also as an investment which they can give back to the society in future. The place has amazing facilities that are not easy to find in other places. According to Burch, he did not expect Nihiwatu to be what it is today. He spends most of his time in Miami, the Hamptons and Nihiwatu resort. The resort has a private home; Raja Mendaka for Chris, and 26 other private villas. The resort has two treehouses linked by a bamboo bridge. The treehouses has balcony, bedroom and bathroom, while the main one has a living area. The two entrepreneurs are planning to expand their resort businesses in Nicaragua and Costa Rica.

Chris Burch Launches A New Hotel, Nihiwatu

After investing in internationally known retail brands like C. Wonder as well as co-founding and establishing many others, Chris Burch is currently focusing his energies in the hospitality industry. In 2012, Chris partnered with hotelier, James McBride, to acquire a beach hostel located in the Indonesian island of Sumba. Burch and McBride spent $30 million to renovate the property. They reopened it in 2015 as a five-star resort called Nihiwatu. In 2015, the resort enjoyed much success in the market. To this end, Travel+ Leisure voted the entity as the best hotel in the globe.

While speaking to Business Jet Traveler in 2015, Chris noted that he purchased the hostel for his children. He hopes the he can preserve it and the surrounding region as a means of giving back to the community. Chris said that the hostel has a beautiful palette.
