Talos Energy-led Consortium Creates Revolution in the Mexican Oil Industry

Talos Energy-led consortium created history by becoming the first private group entering the Mexican oil industry in the last 80 years. Houston-based oil firm collaborated with Premier Oil from London and Sierra Oil & Gas from Mexico to start their first offshore oil well drilling in the country. They began the drilling on May 21, and it is considered as an initial step of a great revolution Mexican oil industry was looking for long – bringing private and foreign players into the industry. Interestingly, this is the first offshore well by any private player in the country after the sector was nationalized in the year 1938 – exclusive for the state-run Petroleos Mexicanos until recently. The well “Zama-1,” located in the Sureste Basin near to Tabasco State, can churn out 100 to 500 million barrels of oil, per the press release of Premier.

It is further confirmed that the drilling may take up to 90 days and would cost close to $16 million. All the three players won the rights in the year 2015 in the initial round of bidding when the country decided to go for private investment in the sector. Elaine Reynolds of Edison Investment Research confirms that considering the private players in the industry after long years, everyone is keenly watching the progress of Zama-1. An analysis on the basin shows that the project has a better geological chance for success. In the consortium, Talos holds 35% stake, Sierra owns 40%, and Premier gets 25%.

Talos Energy is a privately held oil and gas firm focusing on exploration, including acquisition, of oil and gas reserves in the Gulf Coast and the Gulf of Mexico. It was founded in the year 2012 and has gained greater expertise and significant experience in offshore exploration within a short span of time. The company uses modern seismic technology combined with high-quality and safe drilling process to ensure optimized exploration from the fields.

It also has a strong commitment to nature and implements safe and environment-friendly operations throughout its processes. Talos is known for its community involvements and offers a $500 allowance to each of its employees, and that can be contributed to any non-profit group by the employee as per their choice.

Omar Boraie’s Vision for New Brunswick Begins to take Shape

Omar Boraie can best be defined as a visionary. As the Central Jersey Working Moms website post The Visions Of Omar Boraie explains, Mr. Boraie has carried the vision for developing New Brunswick to higher levels for over four decades now. The concept was first conceived well over forty years ago when Omar Boraie found himself at odds comparing the state of New Brunswick at the time with what he had witnessed in Europe several years earlier. He had spent a few years in Europe as a traveling scholar from Egypt studying chemistry. What he saw in Europe was a sharp contrast to what New Brunswick was at the time. It was made up of twenty-one old and dilapidated blocks which created an aura of insecurity. In fact, people did not ever walk out of their apartments after four in the evening.

But Mr. Boraie had a vision, one which seemed improbable to most people around him. That idea involved purchasing all those dilapidated blocks that made up New Brunswick, one by one until he owned the entire place. The second step involved upgrading them into different types of buildings. The result has been three new buildings that have replaced the old dilapidated ones and brought much-needed change to the city. The first and second, which were completed well over 20 years apart and aptly named Tower One and Tower Two have been instrumental in introducing much needed A class office space in New Brunswick. The third project, which was completed in 2007, is a residential condominium on Somerset Street named the Aspire. This building is the largest in the city, and as evidence of just how necessary it was to construct, it was sold out within two months. The Aspire is so named because when the idea was first conceived, most people close to Mr. Boraie thought it was a crazy idea to construct such a high-end building in downtown New Brunswick. However, the speed with which the units were sold out proves that Mr. Omar Boraie was not crazy, but was rather a visionary well ahead of his time.

Omar Boraie is the president of Boraie Development LLC, a realty company based in New Brunswick, New Jersey. The 73-year-old founded the company well over thirty years ago and had been actively involved in helping people achieve their home ownership dreams over that period. Mr. Boraie has also participated, individually and through his company, in the development of real estate projects within the New Brunswick area over the past 40 years. Talos Energy is making a new name for oil

There has been a new offshore oil well sunk in mexican waters. This has been the first time that this has happened in 80 years. The well began being drilled on May 21 by Mexicos Sierra Oil & gas, Houstons Talos Energy LLC and Premier Oil Plc.

It is estimated that the Zama-1 well, located off the state of Tabasco in Sureste Basin, is estimated to hold between 100 million to 500 million barrels of crude. The drilling is estimated to cost Premier around $16 million and take around 90 days to complete. In 2015 is when the three companies officially won the rights to the prospect. Zama is said to be among one of the most interesting exploration wells that has been drilled in the sector this year. Phoenix Exploration has managed to double their companies size by 2011 and then turned around and sold the company to Apache Corp.

Duncan and his partners, along with previous backers, started Talos Energy with just $600 million in equity. The wells in the Gulf of Mexico us estimated to produce 16,000 barrels of oil a day. If you add in the field operators along the Gulf Coast, that makes their company’s head count 120 employees.

Talos has been named by Workplace Dynamics as the best workplace among local small businesses. Talos is in the market to continue growing with $475,000 million to $500 million in projected revenue this year alone. Ben Winkelman, after retiring, got the chance to drill one more time. He has stated that, you define value in tons of different ways. Michael Harding, the chief accounting officer and controller at Talos, has stated that a smaller company offers bigger job opportunities. At Talos there is never a dull moment in the company. They are hoping in time to be able to discover more and more oil wells.
